Fort Collins Alumnae Chapter History

The Fort Collins Alumnae Chapter received its charter on November 17, 1958, an event which was celebrated on the cover of the Winter 1958 Kappa Alpha Theta Magazine. The first president of the chapter was Fran Pavel (now Ford).

Not much is known about the Theta alumnae group prior to 1958, but at some point before that year local Thetas started an alumnae club. Notes in the archives indicate that this was a group of about 30 alumnae whose main purpose was to socialize and to aid Beta Gamma chapter at CSU. The group must have done their job well because they received an award as "Best Alumnae Club in a College Town" in 1957.

We are proud to count as our sisters the first woman mayor of Fort Collins (Mabel Preble), 1972 Woman of the Year (Mabel Preble), and two Community Builder award recipients (Katharyn Bauder, for whom Bauder Elementary School is named, and Viola Moore). Other members serve in many quiet ways as board members, business women, teachers, and volunteers who live their Kappa Alpha Theta ideals.
